NVE Introduces Low-Power Isolated RS-485 Transceiver
New part draws less than one-third the supply current of standard products

EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—June 28, 2017—NVE Corporation (Nasdaq: NVEC) today introduced the IL2985, a low-power version of the company’s award-winning RS-485/RS-422 isolated digital transceiver product family. The new parts are the first commercial isolators to use
Tunneling Magnetoresistance (TMR) technology for low power without sacrificing speed.

With a typical total quiescent current of just 2.4 milliamps at five volts, the new IL2985 draws less than one-third the supply current of the company’s standard products, which are already fairly low power.

In addition to low power consumption, the new parts offer best-in-class performance:
  • 4 megabits per second data rate
  • 2500 volts isolation voltage
  • 44000 year barrier life
  • Low EMC footprint
  • Thermal shutdown protection

A unique ceramic/polymer composite barrier provides excellent isolation and virtually unlimited barrier life.

The new IL2985 is in stock and available for immediate delivery, and is priced at $3.55 each in 1,000-piece quantities. A datasheet and more information are available at www.nve.com.

NVE is a leader in the practical commercialization of spintronics, a nanotechnology that relies on electron spin rather than electron charge to acquire, store and transmit information. The company manufactures high-performance spintronic products including sensors and couplers that are used to acquire and transmit data. NVE has also licensed its spintronic magnetoresistive random access memory technology, commonly known as MRAM.
