NVE Introduces Low-Cost RS-422 Transceiver

IL3022 Block DiagramEDEN PRAIRIE, Minn.—February 22, 2017—NVE Corporation (Nasdaq: NVEC) today announced the introduction of the IL3022E, a cost-effective galvanically isolated, high-speed, full-duplex bus transceiver.

The new device uses NVE’s patented IsoLoop spintronic Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) technology. A unique ceramic/polymer composite barrier provides excellent isolation and virtually unlimited barrier life, and the True 8™ wide-body package provides true 8 mm creepage.

Product features include:
  • 4 Mbps data rate
  • Full duplex
  • 600 VRMS working voltage per VDE V 0884-10
  • 2500 VRMS isolation voltage
  • 44000 year barrier life
  • Low EMC footprint
  • Thermal shutdown protection
  • 0.3" True 8™ mm 16-pin SOIC package

There are now nine members of NVE’s isolated digital transceiver family in various packages, including the unique QSOP and narrow-body packages, the industry’s smallest isolated transceivers:

The product family also includes V-Series versions, which have the highest isolation voltage in the industry. V-Series versions are rated at a remarkabe 6 kVRMS isolation voltage and 1 kVRMS working voltage.

All nine part types are in stock and available for immediate delivery. The IL3022E is priced at $3.25 each in 1,000-piece quantities. A datasheet and more information are available at www.nve.com.

NVE is a leader in the practical commercialization of spintronics, a nanotechnology that relies on electron spin rather than electron charge to acquire, store and transmit information. The company manufactures high-performance spintronic products including sensors and couplers that are used to acquire and transmit data. NVE has also licensed its spintronic magnetoresistive random access memory technology, commonly known as MRAM.
